Pickering 40-635A-108 PXI Multiplexer Module
Designed specifically for use in Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and Data Acquisition Systems, the Pickering 40-635A-108 is a high-density signal routing module. The module contains four independent signal switching banks that can be used individually. Each bank has eight separate 1-pole channels that allow users to select one out of eight possible signals for each bank. Therefore, this half-dense version of the 40-635A PXI multiplexer provides two independent signal switching banks from a single PXI slot.
Each bank contains eight 1-pole relay contactors that are gold plated and rated at 2 amps DC and 300 volts DC. As such, these relays will support a wide variety of power levels and voltage levels in both laboratory and industrial settings. In addition to supporting a wide variety of power levels and voltage levels, these relays also support both hot and cold switching. The module’s design includes a 78-pin D-type connector located on the front panel and allows for the daisy chaining of common signals between multiple modules to form larger signal switching arrays. However, this module defaults to Break-Before-Make (BBM), single channel selection per bank, as the primary method for selecting which signal to route through the switch.
Therefore, while this module is primarily used for efficiently routing signals in PXI- or LXI-based chassis, it is often found in many ATE systems performing functions such as component testing, production line verification and data acquisition. Due to its ability to ensure reliable signal integrity and channel isolation, this multiplexer is a key element of many ATE systems. In addition to its role in many ATE systems, this module is supported by a full suite of software drivers that enable developers to seamlessly integrate this module into their application using a variety of popular development environments. Further, the 40-635A-108 PXI multiplexer is compatible with diagnostic tools such as eBIRST, which enables developers to quickly and easily troubleshoot their test system. Finally, this module is part of Pickering’s broad portfolio of custom connectivity products and chassis options that provide customers with the flexibility to build a wide variety of test systems.
