Pickering 40-682-002 Solid State Versatile Multiplexer
Pickering's 40-682-002 has been developed as a PXI-based, solid-state multiplexer module, configurable via software, for use as a flexible route signal in automated testing systems. Through its software programmable interface, users may configure various multiplexing architectures to best fit their particular requirements. As such, it has been designed for those applications that require a high density of switching capability that may be easily reconfigured for different test items or future system upgrades without having to physically modify the hardware.
Besides being a highly flexible product, the Pickering 40-682-002 can also be configured for a number of possible uses, including configurations ranging from an 8-bank, 8-channel, 2-pole configuration to a single-bank, 128-channel, 1-pole configuration. Each switch is capable of being switched on/off (hot/cold) at up to 250 mA/40V. In addition, the switches operate quickly with a typical switching time of 80 microseconds and have a very long operational life. Another important feature of this multiplexer is that it is isolated. When the bank is switched on, only the common line of that bank is connected to the common bus line. This greatly reduces the amount of capacitive loading and leakage current in large systems and is especially useful when building many multiplexers in a series to distribute common signals between multiple modules.
To make integration into test systems easier, Pickering provides a complete set of drivers to support the 40-682-002 using VISA, IVI and Kernel Interfaces under Windows and other operating systems. In addition, the multiplexer module may be installed into either PXI, PXIe or Pickering LXI chassis, providing a wide range of options for installation. Finally, Pickering provides two additional tools; the Soft Front Panel and the eBIRST relay test utility. These tools provide users with simple ways to configure the 40-682-002 and identify faults should they occur. These tools, combined with the multiplexer's configurable architecture, reliable solid-state construction and Pickering's strong commitment to supporting its products, make the Pickering 40-682-002 a fundamental component of dynamic, scalable test system designs used in manufacturing, validation and research applications.
