Pickering 40-784A-906 Microwave Multiplexer Module
Pickering’s 40-784A-906 PXI Microwave Switch Matrix Module was specifically designed for use as a microwave switch matrix in high-level automated test equipment (ATE). The 40-784A-906 has a high density of switches that allow designers to build many levels of complexity in their signal paths, all within the confines of a small 3U PXI card. The 40-784A-906 can be used to switch RF/microwave signals up to 40 GHz and is therefore well-suited to high-end applications such as those found in telecommunications, aerospace/defense, and semiconductor validation, where precision microwave signal routing is critical. By providing the ability to connect multiple instruments to multiple DUTs, the 40-784A-906 increases the flexibility and utilization of the test stations while eliminating much of the need for manual reconfiguration of the test stations.
The Pickering 40-784A-906 has a 50-ohm characteristic impedance, resulting in minimal signal attenuation over its entire operating bandwidth (frequency range). The front panel connectors on the module are SMA or SMA-2.9 connectors that provide reliable connections at high frequency levels. The primary parameters of operation for the module include fast switching speed, good repeatability of insertion loss, and high channel-to-channel isolation, all of which are required for maintaining signal integrity in measurement applications. The module also provides high voltage standing wave ratios (VSWRs) and low insertion losses during long periods of time, which ultimately contribute to the accuracy and consistency of test results obtained through the module.
In both industrial automation and ATE applications, the 40-784A-906 is used to streamline test sequences, reduce downtime, and support multi-port scalable testing. The 40-784A-906 is compatible with multiple PXI/PXIe Hybrid and Pickering LXI Modular Chassis products, providing easy integration into existing test platforms.
