Pickering 40-850-024 Fiber Optic Multiplexer
Pickering's 40-850-024 is a single four-channel MEMS fiber optic multiplexer module intended for high-density optical routing in automated test and measurement systems. The 40-850-024 acts as an optical switch by selecting one input to connect to a selected output from the four possible channels via MEMS mirrors. It was designed for single-mode operation at wavelengths between 1240 nm and 1640 nm, which enables use for telecommunications and validation of components. The 40-850-024 has been placed in a very compact 1-slot PXI form factor in order to save on the overall size of the PXI or LXI chassis for scalable integration into automated test systems.
Optical specifications of the Multiplexer include a typical insertion loss of 1 dB and a superior return loss of greater than 55 dB. These characteristics provide the user with optimal signal integrity. A feature of the 40-850-024 is its ability to repeatable operate to ± 0.01 dB and has a quick response time of 1 ms. Both of these features are beneficial in completing test sequences quickly. At the same time, the long operational life of the device exceeds ten million cycles; this provides the user with high reliability and productivity in both laboratory and production environments.
