Keysight E1458A 96-Channel Digital I/O
Specifically developed for high-performance digital I/O control applications, the Keysight E1458A 96-Channel Digital Input/Output (I/O) Module is a C-size, 1-slot, register-based VXI module. It offers a flexible solution for industrial automation systems control, data collecting, and digital subassembly testing with its twelve bi-directional 8-bit data connections. With the ability to handle positive or negative true logic configurations, every port on the E1458A can be used as an input or output. Each of the three banks that make up the architecture of the module has four ports. Flexible data transmission utilizing bytes, words (16-bit), or long words (32-bit) is made possible by the ability to combine these ports inside a bank.
The Keysight E1458A is notable for its versatility in handling output data types, which includes block memory transfers to and from memory. This feature, along with its six General Purpose I/O (GPIO) handshake protocols (pulse, partial, strobe, leading edge, and trailing edge), guarantees smooth integration into a range of industrial processes. Additionally, the module provides per-port data readback, which makes it possible to precisely monitor and manipulate digital signals. Furthermore, every port has three exclusive lines for handshake and control: the input handshaking line FLAG, the output handshaking line CTL, and the input/output status line I/O. Critical control services like data handshaking, peripheral interrupts, and status reporting are provided by these lines, which can be programmed using SCPI instructions.
Similar in functionality to the E1330B, the Keysight E1458A has more features, such as a larger set of SCPI commands. With this command set, new queries for reading back port data and control values can be supported along with existing SCPI applications written for the E1330B that can be executed on the E1458A without interference. Standard digital logic circuits can be used with the module because its logic levels are TTL compatible and have a maximum voltage of 5V. Because it can support both hardware handshaking and software triggers for test synchronization, the E1458A is very flexible and can be used in a wide range of control and testing settings. In addition, the module supports the Agilent E1406A command modules and can be downloaded as a driver. It is compatible with all C-SCPI/I-SCPI systems.
