Pickering 40-263-001 PXI RTD Simulator Module
Pickering’s 40-263-001 is a high-density PXI module used to simulate the resistance of Pt100 RTDs. The 40-263-001 has 24 independent channels. Each channel can generate accurate resistance values ranging from 40 ohms to 900 ohms. This range will simulate all the different behaviors of a Pt100 sensor across a large temperature span (-150 degrees C to 850+ degrees C). The 40-263-001 is a valuable tool for testing and validating temperature measurement systems through testing and calibrating devices such as PLCs, data acquisition systems, and temperature controllers.
The 40-263-001’s ability to control resistance to very fine levels (less than 10 mΩ) is one of its greatest features for simulating temperature. In addition to setting the resistance of each channel, engineers can also configure the channels to operate as a short circuit or open circuit, allowing for testing of realistic sensor wiring faults and system diagnostic conditions. The 40-263-001 operates at a common mode voltage that can be configured to three levels: 0V, +12V, or -12V, and accepts an external source of up to ±50V for compatibility with industrial measurement circuits. Additionally, a calibration port is included to enable engineers to easily verify the resistance of each channel using an external DMM (digital multimeter) while still maintaining connectivity to the unit under test, thus allowing inline validation of the system being tested.
Commands to set resistance values and application programming interfaces (APIs) are both available on the RTD Simulator Module for converting from temperature to resistance value. As well as VISA, IVI, and Kernel Drivers, the 40-263-001 is compatible with automation testing environments that utilize common software such as LabVIEW, MATLAB, and Visual Studio. With a 3U PXI form factor occupying two slots, the 40-263-001 offers a cost-effective and scalable solution for benchtop testing and high-channel count production testing environments to validate performance reliability of applications in industrial automation and control.
