National Instruments' PXIe-SCP5101 (Part Number(s): 867011-04, 867011-03, 867011-02) represents a complete PXI Oscilloscope Bundle for the engineer designing high channel count or Automated Test & Measurement Systems. The bundle includes the PXIe-5110, a two-channel digitizer-oscilloscope with a bandwidth of 100 MHz and an eight-bit resolution. Key to this bundle is the ability to sample flexibly at rates of up to one Gigasample/second (GS/s) on one channel via time interleaved sampling, or 500 Megasamples/second (MS/s) on each of two channels; thus, it is well-suited for measuring very fast transients. It has a significant 512 MB of onboard storage available for recording long waveforms and supports advanced trigger types and analytical tools via the included NI-SCOPE instrument driver.
The PXIe-SCP5101 is housed in a rugged five-slot PXI Express Chassis (PXIe-1083), which provides the necessary physical structure. The chassis offers up to 58 watts of thermal dissipation per slot and contains a Thunderbolt 3 controller for high-speed communication between the host computer and the PXIe-SCP5101 for both command and data transfer. For instant access to the measured signals, the bundle also uses two SP500X passive oscilloscope probes with 10x attenuations, a Thunderbolt cable, and a power cable, all to assist with immediate measurements after setting up the PXIe-SCP5101 bundle.
The PXIe-SCP5101 bundle is utilized by engineers in many different areas including industrial automation, R&D, and manufacturing test labs. The modular nature of the PXI platform makes it easy to create integrated systems that include data acquisition instruments, switches, and other instrumentation in a single, compact chassis. In addition to providing the synchronization capability within a single PXI chassis, the PXIe-SCP5101 bundle is able to provide synchronization capabilities between multiple PXI chassis, utilizing NI-TClk technology, to enable multi-channel precision measurements required in power electronics testing, prototype validation, and automated component verification. As such, the PXIe-SCP5101 bundles the performance of a benchtop oscilloscope with the scalability and integration benefits of the PXI platform.
