Tektronix 465M Oscilloscope
Tektronix developed the 465M as a dual-channel, portable analog oscilloscope designed to measure or analyze high-frequency analog waveforms and perform various diagnostic tests in both the lab environment and field environments. It is capable of observing high-speed analog & digital waveforms with a vertical deflection system that has a maximum bandwidth of 100 MHz. The 465M also has an advanced triggering system that will allow the operator to stabilize displays of complex waveforms by using three different types of trigger (auto., norm., & single sweep) along with a variable delay/holdoff feature for displaying aperiodic waveforms. Additionally, the horizontal deflection system is capable of producing a variety of sweep rates (0.5 sec/div. to 5 nsec/div.) along with a delayed sweep option and a mixed sweep capability that allows the operator to obtain accurate time relationship information between two events on a waveform.
The 465M has several key operating characteristics such as a vertically calibrated sensitivity range from 5 MV/div. to 5 V/div. and a band-limiting feature that can be used to reject unwanted high-frequency noise. In addition to its standard operation mode, it can also operate in the X-Y mode for comparing phases and generating Lissajous patterns. For reliable performance under varying line voltages, the oscilloscope has regulated power supplies. A built-in calibration source generates a reference square wave that can be used to compensate probes and verify vertical gain. The 465M has a clear 8 x 10 cm graticule on the CRT with a P-31 phosphor that produces a bright display of traces.
Design engineers and maintenance technicians find the 465M useful for a wide variety of tasks including; troubleshooting communications systems, testing the timing and pulse integrity of digital circuits, servicing radar and RF equipment and analyzing output from transducers used in industrial automation. The portability and ruggedness makes it an ideal choice for field service work, production line testing and as a teaching aid in electronics engineering programs.
