Keysight/Agilent E1368A Microwave Switch
The E1368A from Keysight/Agilent is a 3 channel single pole double throw coaxial switch module designed for microwave test systems. It supports 50 Ω transmission systems with an operating frequency range from DC to 18 GHz. The module houses three independently controlled coaxial switches with front panels labeled 00, 01 and 02. Each panel number uniquely identifies the channel of the coaxial switch installed at that position. The switch achieves an insertion loss of less than 0.25 dB across the DC to 2 GHz band. At the upper frequency limit of DC to 18 GHz, the insertion loss remains below 0.50 dB. The module sustains a characteristic impedance of 50 Ω consistently across the full operating frequency range. This impedance stability ensures accurate and consistent signal routing across broadband microwave measurement applications.
The isolation on the E1368A Microwave Switch is specified at greater than 90 dB across the full range. The VSWR performance with a 50 Ω load is rated below 1.15 for the DC to 2 GHz range. The VSWR is specified at less than 1.25 under the same 50 Ω load from DC to 12.4 GHz. At the full DC to 18 GHz range, the VSWR specification rises to less than 1.40. The microwave switch handles a maximum continuous input power of 1 Watt average across all channels. The peak input power is rated at 100 Watts to accommodate short duration and high energy pulse conditions. The module is actuated within a control voltage range of ± 7 Vdc for all three switching channels. The switching repeatability for the switch is specified at 0.03 dB after one million cycles.
The power is supplied to the Microwave Switch at a regulated + 5 V within a compatible VXI mainframe. The peak module current IPM is specified at 1.30 A to support the full three channel switch actuation demand. The dynamic module current IDM is rated at 0.01 A that reflects minimal power draw in steady state. The total slot power consumption for the switch is rated at 5.00 Watts per installed VXI slot.
