Tektronix TBS1102C Digital Storage Oscilloscope
Designed for embedded designers, educators, and makers alike, this digital storage oscilloscope (DSO), Tektronix’s TBS1102C, brings a level of performance unmatched by most other DSOs in its class. With a 100 MHz bandwidth and a sampling rate of 1 GS/s on each of its two channels, the TBS1102C is ideal for virtually all types of electronic design work and troubleshooting. With a 20 K point record length and several acquisition modes available, such as Sample, Peak Detect to catch small glitches, and Average to smooth out noise on repetitive waveforms, the TBS1102C will help you get the information you need from your signal.
One of the defining features of the TBS1102C is its user-centric design approach, using a large 7-inch WVGA color LCD display that has 15 horizontal divisions on it, offering 50% more horizontal signal viewing than a standard 10-division display. The front panel is very user-friendly, with individual controls on the front of the unit for each of the two channels. Additionally, Tektronix has developed an innovative concept called “HelpEverywhere,” which puts context-sensitive on-screen tips right at the users’ fingertips.
For analyzing waveforms, the TBS1102C comes equipped with 32 automated measurement capabilities, along with a dual-window Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) capability that can allow you to view the same waveform in both the time domain and frequency domain simultaneously. The triggering system on the TBS1102C is also very flexible, with the ability to trigger on pulse width and runts. This type of triggering is especially useful when trying to troubleshoot digital circuits or when attempting to capture abnormal occurrences in a signal.
As an educational tool, the TBS1102C is also very useful and flexible. A built-in courseware system will allow students to load their lab assignments directly into the oscilloscope, complete with step-by-step instructions. For connectivity and data transfer, there is a USB Host Port located on the front of the unit that will allow students to easily save images and waveform data, as well as a USB Device Port located on the back of the unit that will enable them to connect to their computer and remotely operate the oscilloscope using compatible software. With its fanless and compact design, the TBS1102C is the perfect tool for electronics development and educational environments where noise levels must be kept at a minimum.
