Keysight N1912A Dual Channel Power Meter
The Keysight N1912A P-Series Dual Channel Power Meter is a high-precision measuring instrument specifically designed to measure and analyze complex power in applications where high-speed, real-time data acquisition is required. It offers dual-channel capability for the concurrent monitoring of two different signals and also supports Keysight's N1921A and N1922A wideband power sensors, thus offering frequency ranges from 50 MHz to 40 GHz. The system provides key measurements such as average power, peak power, peak-to-average ratio, pulse rise/fall time, pulse width, and time-gated parameters needed to characterize hard-to-measure RF and microwave signals in radar, wireless communications, and industrial automation systems.
At a video bandwidth of 30 MHz and with continuous sampling at 100 Msamples/s, the N1912A precisely captures single-shot transient events with low overshoot (≤5%) and rise time as quick as 13 ns. Internal zeroing and calibration capabilities provide seamless operation without needing to disconnect the device under test (DUT), saving workflow time. The meter includes 22 pre-defined measurement formats for such standards as WiMAX, DME, and HSDPA, making it easy to set up for common protocols.
As an LXI Class-C-compliant instrument, the N1912A is advantaged by Ethernet connectivity to easily integrate into automated test setups. It is also supported by Keysight BenchVue software (BV0007B), which provides remote control, data logging, and visualization via an easy-to-use graphical interface. Software automation features minimize manual intervention and are well-suited for high-throughput test applications.
The dynamic range of the system is -35 dBm to +20 dBm (≥500 MHz) and delivers nominal average power measurement accuracy of ±0.3 dB (N1922A) in specified conditions. Legacy sensor support (E-Series, 8480 Series) through firmware upgrades allows for mixed-equipment installation flexibility. Environmental ruggedness is guaranteed with operation over temperatures from 0 to 55°C and humidity up to 95% (non-condensing). Interfaces are GPIB, LAN, USB, and analog outputs for connection of external controllers or oscilloscopes.
Industrial automation engineers benefit from its high pulse analysis, real-time acquisition, and auto-calibration, which are ideal for quality assurance, production test, and R&D applications where accurate, repeatable power measurements are required.
