Keysight/Agilent N6792A Electronic Load Module
The Keysight N6792A is a double-width electronic load module rated at 200 W, specifically designed for mounting in the N6700C, N6701C, and N6702C mainframes in low profiles used in modular power systems. The module works at a level between 0 and 60 V and has a current capability up to 40 A, thus meeting required functions for sinking power accurately for testing DC power supplies, energy storage systems, and batteries. The four main modes of operation in this module are Constant Voltage (CV), Constant Current (CC), Constant Resistance (CR), and Constant Power (CP) and allow real-time simulation for real operating conditions.
The capability for generating integrated random waveforms allows for complex load profiles to be formulated and thus for simulation of transients or pulses for testing source stability in varied conditions. High-speed synchronized digitization allows for current and voltage capture at up to 195,312 samples/second, providing oscilloscope-like information for dynamic performance parameters. The capability is applied in testing for transient responses, inrush current, and general efficiency for testing power supplies. The unit is protected internally for under-voltage conditions and can hold in-place parameters like voltage, current, power, or resistance for testing for ensuring testing preciseness.
Designed to be easily integrated into automated testing frameworks, the N6792A features GPIB, LAN, and USB interfaces for far-off control and information gathering. Compliance with SCPI command standards supports easy porting to current test scripts and software solutions. The double-wide form-factor configuration is comprised of two slots in the 1U mainframe and can hold up to two modules in each chassis, supporting improved multiple-channel testing capability. Advanced heat dissipation techniques and lateral airflow ensure superior performance without compromise at ambient temperatures up to 40°C.
The front-panel interface for the module is indicative of the user-friendly nature typical of the N6700C system, making for simpler setup and real-time monitoring of metrics for voltage, current, and power. Its uses include validating designs in consumer products, motor vehicles, and space-based systems in which precise simulation and rapid measuring are required. The N6792A is also available in support for power sequencing across multiple mainframes, supporting coordinated start or stop sequencing in complex multi-rail power systems. It supports programmable slew rate control and virtual channels in addition to adding testing workflows and ensuring compliance with security regulations in mechanisms for over-temperature and over-current protection.
