TDK-Lambda GEN40-125 Programmable DC Power Supply
TDK Lambda’s GEN40-125 is a highly configurable DC power supply designed to meet the requirements of the most demanding industrial automation, test, and research applications. The device is capable of delivering 5 kW of output power from a 2U rack mount chassis. This results in an extremely high power density, which can be particularly beneficial when there are limitations on the amount of space available for systems that require significant amounts of power. Additionally, the GEN40-125 has an adjustable output capability of up to 40 VDC and 125 ADC, with the ability to automatically cross over between Constant Voltage and Constant Current modes in order to protect delicate loads.
Due to its ability to be integrated into complex systems, the GEN40-125 contains a built-in RS-232 and RS-485 serial interface for chaining together control of up to 31 units. Also, optional interfaces, including GPIB, Isolated Analog Programming, and LXI-compliant LAN, may also be provided directly from the factory depending upon the application environment being targeted. The DC Power Supply will also allow up to four identical units to be connected in parallel to produce 20 kW of total power. Active current sharing is controlled by a single master unit, allowing for greatly simplified programming and monitoring of all of the units involved. The GEN40-125 is ideal for applications requiring high currents, such as semiconductor burn-in, electric vehicle component testing, and powering industrial processes.
High-resolution control of both the voltage and current outputs is provided using 16-bit digital-to-analog converters. The front-panel controls of the GEN40-125 include dedicated encoders and a digital display for local operation of the unit. Remote programming can also be accomplished to support ATE systems. The power supply was designed to operate reliably in harsh environments and supports three-phase AC inputs. Besides its input and output characteristics, the device also has many robust protective features, such as over-voltage and over-temperature protection. The combination of high output power, high-resolution output, and programmable control makes the GEN40-125 a fundamental building block for advanced manufacturing, laboratory research, and green technology development.
