TDK Lambda LPD-421A-FM Regulated Power Supply
The TDK Lambda LPD-421A-FM is a compact DC power supply built for panel mounting inside automation cabinets and industrial control enclosures. It delivers an output of 0 to 20 VDC to connected loads, functioning as both a constant-voltage and constant-current regulated source. The power input comes from an AC source ranging between 105 and 132 volts, accepting frequencies from 47 Hz up to 440 Hz with full performance specs guaranteed between 57 and 63 Hz.
For flexible voltage control, the users can remotely program the output of the LPD-421A-FM power supply via an external resistor connected at the input terminals. This resistor works at roughly 200 ohms for every volt of output, giving a direct one-to-one relationship between programming voltage and output voltage across the unit's entire range. The current output capacity depends on ambient temperature. At 30°C, the unit handles up to 1.7 amps. This drops to 1.5 amps at 40 °C, falls further to 1.3 amps at 50 °C, and bottoms out at 0.9 amps once temperatures hit 60 °C.
The thermal stability of the LPD-421A-FM regulated power supply is strong too: voltage drift stays under 0.015% plus 0.5 mV for every degree Celsius of temperature change. The line regulation comes in at 0.01% plus 1.0 mV across the full 105–132 VAC input range (in either direction), and load regulation matches this same figure: 0.01% plus 1.0 mV. The noise and ripple of the power supply on the output stay low. The RMS values sit around 500 microvolts under typical conditions, while peak-to-peak figures reach about 1.5 millivolts regardless of whether the positive or negative terminal is grounded.
A standout feature of the LPD-421A-FM is simultaneous current regulation across both line and load variations. An automatic crossover mechanism blends voltage regulation with current limiting for added protection. Specifically, line-related current regulation keeps output changes to within 5 mA, and load-related regulation holds output current steady to within 5 mA across the full range from no load to maximum load.
