Tektronix P6139A Passive Oscilloscope Probe
The Tektronix P6139A is a passive oscilloscope probe (high impedance) for the precise measurement of electronic signals. It is primarily designed to be used with Tektronix TDS3000 & TDS500 series digitizing oscilloscopes. As a basic tool for electrical engineering and technical staff in the development, testing and maintenance of electronics, the primary use of the P6139A is to accurately pass the signal from the DUT to the oscilloscope without significant degradation of the signal so as to allow detailed examination of the circuitry and troubleshooting of malfunctions.
It has a 10X attenuation ratio, which represents a very high input resistance of 10 MΩ and a very low input capacitance of 8.0 pF. These characteristics make the P6139A suitable for the examination of high-speed and digital signals, as these are the areas where maintaining signal fidelity is most important. In addition, the P6139A will provide a total system bandwidth of 500 MHz or higher when combined with an oscilloscope such as the TDS3054, thus providing clear viewing of rapid transients and complex waveforms. A calibration procedure is provided in order to allow the user to adjust the probe to have a flat frequency response over its compensation range. This process is required to ensure accurate measurements of both the amplitude and time of all signals measured within the probe’s bandwidth.
As part of the product, a variety of accessories are included to facilitate the multiple ways in which the probe can be connected to the components being tested. Included as standard equipment are a retractable hook-type tip for hands-free lead attachment, an adjustment tool for adjusting the compensation, a selection of grounding leads including a low-induction grounding lead for improved accuracy at high frequencies, and an insulated alligator clip. Additionally, color marker bands are provided to assist in identifying the probes in multichannel applications. Optional accessory items include, but are not limited to, BNC adapters, SMT KlipChip adapters for measuring surface-mounted devices, and other types of probe tips to accommodate various test points. The Tektronix P6139A is an essential tool for professionals needing dependable and accurate oscilloscope measurements in the fields of industrial automation, telecommunications, and consumer electronics.
