Aeroflex 3066 PXI Multi-Way Active RF Combiner
The Aeroflex 3066 is a PXI-based, multi-path active RF signal conditioning module that can be used as an RF signal combiner and distributor for combining signals from different signal sources or distributing them into multiple DUTs simultaneously over a frequency range of 250 MHz to 6 GHz. One of the biggest benefits it offers to industries using automated systems to perform high-volume testing of products is increased test throughput. With this module, a single set of instruments can be used to communicate with all devices being tested at the same time; therefore, one of the largest benefits is to reduce the number of signal generators and analyzers required for high-volume production tests. Also, the test instrument can be shared among several DUTs, thereby reducing the cost of the instruments needed for testing.
The 3066 is a multi-way combiner/distributor unit capable of operating as a 4-way active combiner/distributor utilizing four separate full duplex test ports to connect devices under test. There are two gain stages on each signal path in the forward direction and the reverse direction. Therefore, there can be individual gain adjustment of the output level of each test port. Isolation between all DUT test ports exceeds 60 dB. This high degree of isolation ensures that there will be no interference between signals being tested or measured. The hardware is robust enough to handle input power levels of up to +34 dBm CW (continuous wave). Also, rapid signal path switching (less than 100 usec.) helps to reduce test cycle time.
In addition to its capabilities, the Aeroflex 3066 was engineered to integrate into the larger family of PXI 3000 instrumentation series. As such, it supports list-based operation so that complex test sequences can be executed. The Aeroflex 3066 has been utilized in a number of applications, including parallel testing of multiple user equipment units, MIMO system validation, and manufacturing of smartphones. The RF Combiner enables the simultaneous testing of up to four devices, thereby reducing the cost per test and optimizing rack space. This module is a scalable solution for system integrators who are designing automated test systems. These solutions maximize asset utilization and increase production throughput in wireless device manufacturing and validation laboratories.
