Aeroflex 3020 PXI Digital RF Signal Generator
The Aeroflex 3020 Series is an RF signal generation PXI platform that provides a high degree of precision and is used for the automation of various test systems. Although there is a single base model for the 3020 Series, it can only function when paired with one of two other series modules: either the 3010 or 3011 Series RF synthesizer modules, thus forming a full operational system. In addition to the base hardware, Aeroflex also provides a suite of software tools to provide a basis for controlling and operating these systems. These software tools consist of PXI Studio to manage and operate the entire test system, a set of instrument drivers to allow programmatic access to each individual instrument; and the IQ Creator waveform generation tool to create complex digitally modulated waveforms.
Each module can generate RF test signals at frequencies between 100 kHz and 6 GHz with the capability to adjust the output level of the signals from -120 dBm to +17 dBm. As part of its design, each module has an integrated dual-channel arbitrary waveform generator (AWG) with the capability to store and play back custom digital modulation waveforms from a maximum of 2 GB of memory. The Aeroflex 3020 Series can accommodate a wide variety of modulation techniques, including both analog (AM and FM) and digital (I/Q and vector) with the capability to modulate RF signals over a bandwidth of up to 90 MHz. Additional features to help increase the performance of test systems include a flexible list mode to quickly switch between different frequency and power settings, additional trigger modes to synchronize multiple test systems, and analog and digital I/Q interface options.
The primary applications for Aeroflex’s 3020 Series are Research & Development and Manufacturing Test Systems for Wireless Communications and therefore testing of Components and Devices meeting a broad range of Standards including LTE, W-CDMA, GSM, EDGE, WLAN (802.11a/b/g) and WiMAX. Additionally, its capability to produce Wideband Multicarrier Signals make it an ideal candidate for Satellite Communications, Broadcasting, and Military Communications. Due to its Architecture utilizing the PXI Platform, the 3020 Series provides numerous Advantages over Traditional Bench Top Instruments including increased Measurement Speed, Increased Flexibility for Integrating Multiple Functions into a Single System, and Reduced Physical Footprint resulting in a Cost-Effective Solution for Simulating and Testing Complex RF Signals.
