Keysight/Agilent 83650L Synthesized CW Generator
Keysight/Agilent 83650L is a high-frequency synthesized continuous wave (CW) signal generator for precise signal generation in challenging applications. The 83650L covers the frequency range from 10 MHz up to 50 GHz and is suitable for RF and microwave testing at high levels. The 83650L is a member of the 8360L series, which has been optimized for CW signal generation but does not include the 8360B series modulation capabilities.
The 83650L also has a very stable internal 10 MHz time base with 5×10^−10 per day and 1×10^−7 per year aging rate for long-term frequency stability. Temperature and line voltage influences are minimized at, for instance, typically 1×10^−10 per °C and 5×10^−10 for a 10% line voltage change. 1 kHz frequency resolution is available, with the 1 Hz resolution optional.
Output power levels are tightly controlled, with maximum leveled power from +13 dBm for frequencies less than 20 GHz to +2.5 dBm for frequencies greater than 40 GHz. The minimum settable output power for the 83650L is -20 dBm. However, users have the option of using an additional step attenuator to raise that minimum output to -110 dBm. The frequency range of the device offers excellent flatness levels, with a typical flatness of ±0.9 dB and ±2.1 dB for below 2 GHz and above 40 GHz respectively.
The 83650L provides various sweep modes, such as step, list, and ramp sweeps, with switching times as low as 5 ms over a frequency band. The generator's RF output is available through a high precision 2.4 mm male connector for good signal integrity up to 50 GHz. An auxiliary output is also provided on the instrument, which supplies an unmodulated reference signal from 2 to 26.5 GHz at a nominal minimum power of -10 dBm.
The rugged design of the 83650L makes it a great choice for applications in RF/Microwave laboratory or production environments that require stable, high-frequency CW signals. Some of these applications include component testing, system integration, and research. This CW generator is compatible with many useful optional features including internal modulation generators and fast pulse modulation.
While the 83650L has been declared Obsolete by Keysight, the Synthesized CW Generator will remain available in perpetuity with Apex Waves for both purchase and repair services!
