VX Instruments PXA7224 Arbitrary Generator Module
The PXA7224 Arbitrary Generator from VX Instruments is a 2-channel floating PXI module that delivers isolated waveform generation per channel for accurate stimulation in complex test systems. It provides 16-bit vertical resolution across all ranges which supports precise modeling of analog phenomena. Each channel of offers up to one M sample waveform memory for segmented arbitrary sequences. Each channel of the PXA7224 operates with an independent state machine so sequencing start stop and trigger conditions remain isolated. It supports sampling rates from 0.1 samples to 100 M samples per second. A phase locked loop provides flexible clock synthesis to match diverse timing requirements. The unit’s output frequency resolution equals 100 parts/1000000 of the programmed frequency that simplifies deterministic setups.
Its time base accuracy is 50 parts/1000000 with an available TCXO option for improving stability to one part. Its output stages provide selectable impedance of 50 ohms or a low impedance mode and its 7 programmable voltage ranges span from 2.5 V to 15 V. With the EXTVOLT extension this unit can configure unipolar ranges from 0 to 30 V for high level excitation. The arbitrary generator features peak current of 100 mA in lower ranges and 30 mA in extended ranges. Its waveform memory supports 512 sequence entries to enable pattern definition for automated procedures. The unit’s analog performance includes bandwidth up to 40 MHz at small amplitudes and its higher voltage ranges support 10 MHz bandwidth into high impedance to suit sensor as well as actuator interfaces.
The slew rate in PXA7224 is above 200 Vs per microsecond to maintain waveform integrity during fast edges in applications. Its direct current accuracy specifies gain and offset errors below 0.2% which minimizes calibration overhead. The unit’s trigger architecture enables synchronization of multiple inside a PXI chassis environment. The generator’s trigger to output delay equals 1 sample clock +120 ns which simplifies timing analysis. Its dedicated marker outputs provide transistor logic levels through SMA connectors to flag sequence positions or events. The mechanical design of PXA7224 uses a 3-unit two slot PXI form factor. Its front panel connections use SMA interfaces that support reliable coupling for high frequency and high voltage signals.
