Keysight/Agilent 34924A Reed Multiplexer for 34980A
The Keysight 34924A is a high-density reed multiplexer card. It was specifically created for the Keysight 34980A Multifunction Switch/Measure Unit. On one board, the 34924A has 70 channels that are wired with two wires and allow for either all 2-wire or 4-wire configurations. Therefore, the user will have flexibility when creating various signal paths that meet different test needs.
The reed relays used in the 34924A provide the high speed required by high-volume automated test equipment (ATE) and/or rapid data collection applications. Each relay has an embedded counter that will count how many times each relay has been opened, which makes planning and scheduling of preventative maintenance easier.
Each channel is connected via a 78-pin D-sub connector. This connector provides users with a simple method to connect their modules directly to cables or other devices. Users may select a variety of ways to terminate their connections (cables, terminal blocks, etc.) depending upon their application. The reeds can support a maximum switching voltage of +150 VDC (-150 VDC) and/or current of 0.5 A with a carrying current capability of 1.5 A.
These characteristics make the 34924A ideal for a number of applications where rapid sequential measurement of a large number of parameters is required (i.e., product testing, component evaluation, and high-speed monitoring of sensors or control lines). Engineers involved in industrial automation often utilize the Keysight 34924A in applications requiring rapid sequential measurement over a large number of points. Some examples include semiconductor testing, automotive electronics testing/validation, and precise data acquisition systems.
Due to its ability to mix channel types, one module can perform both two-wire and four-wire measurements at the same time. Therefore, there is no need to purchase multiple switch modules. The Keysight 34980A mainframe serves as the base platform for this module. In doing so, the module's channel count can range from 41 to 130 depending on configuration options.
Because the module does not contain an inherent frequency limit, the module is limited to routing DC and low-frequency AC signals. Reed-based designs ensure fast settling time and prolonged operating life. Both of these factors are important when performing continuous scanning operations.
