Keysight/Agilent DAQM905A Module for DAQ970A and DAQ973A
The Keysight DAQM905A is an RF module (a dual 1:4 RF multiplexer) designed to work in conjunction with Keysight's DAQ970A and DAQ973A data acquisition systems. The Keysight DAQM905A has a usable frequency band of 2 GHz with a 50-ohm characteristic impedance. Each of the two 1x4 multiplexers provided by the module contains a common shield and a switched center conductor so that engineers may route high-frequency or pulsed signals through the module without degrading those signals.
The compact design of the module will allow it to be connected directly to other devices via SMB inputs, allowing full 2 GHz performance; however, the BNC-to-SMB adapters supplied with the module will provide a connection method that supports 1 GHz bandwidth. The Keysight DAQM905A is useful in test configurations requiring engineers to switch signals between a device-under-test and measurement instrument(s), e.g., signal generators, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, etc.
The Keysight DAQM905A has the ability to connect two different types of RF signals. Since each channel on the RF multiplexer is capable of operating from 0 to 50 volts, the Keysight DAQM905A is capable of handling both low-level and moderate-power RF applications. The Keysight DAQM905A also integrates into Keysight DAQ970A and DAQ973A mainframes seamlessly, enabling them to perform broadband switching functions that are not possible using standard multiplexers. The Keysight DAQM905A has a total of 16 channels in two separate banks; this enables engineers to either create parallel paths for switching RF signals or completely independent paths for switching RF signals. These capabilities reduce test times and ensure that there is no degradation to the signal being measured at frequencies up to 2 GHz. A 50-ohm terminator ensures impedance matching with RF/microwave test environments, eliminating reflection and signal loss.
Applications that would typically utilize the Keysight DAQM905A would be in automatic test equipment for wireless communication systems, radar systems, and high-speed digital interfaces. The need for sequential access to a number of different signal sources in order to measure a particular parameter of interest on a single analyzer/generator is typical in these application areas. Additionally, multiple Keysight DAQM905A modules can be used together within one mainframe in order to build a stubless 16:1 multiplexer, thereby providing a scalable solution to meet even greater topological requirements. The modular nature of the Keysight DAQM905A is beneficial to many production testing and/or design verification applications as well as research laboratories who require repeatable high-bandwidth signal switching.
