Keysight/Agilent DAQM907A Multifunction Module for DAQ970A and DAQ973A

The DAQM907A is a multifunctional module that was designed specifically for use in the DAQ970A and DAQ973A families of data acquisition systems. It provides an eight-bit digital input port, an eight-bit digital output port, a 100 KHz gated totalizer, and two analog outputs rated to 12 volts. Additionally, this single-earth-referenced module contains several optional voltage and/or current sensing channels. As such, engineers may install the DAQM907A in automated test stations, manufacturing lines, and/or laboratory settings as needed to satisfy the varied signal requirements associated with these applications.

The DAQM907A's analog output capability allows for voltage programming of the device via the front panel or over the DAQ bus. Consequently, it is well-suited to provide bias voltages to the devices being tested or act as a setpoint source for feedback loop-based control systems.

When used in conjunction with digital control functions, the sixteen bidirectional lines of the DAQM907A provide engineers with the ability to interactively control external power supplies to energize various types of devices such as microwave switches, attenuators, solenoid valves, power relays, and indicator lamps. Additionally, the sixteen bi-directional lines of the DAQM907A may be configured to read the limit switch positions associated with DUTs and/or monitor bus status without requiring the engineer to program complicated handshake routines. The totalizer input channel may be configured to count events generated by photo-interrupters, hall-effect sensors, and mechanical limit switches.

In addition to counting events at high speeds, the DAQM907A will accumulate over 45 minutes' worth of events based upon its maximum clock frequency prior to overflowing, while allowing engineers access to the accumulated event count at any time through either the front-panel controls or a programmable interface.

In addition to standard I/O operations, the DAQM907A continually monitors for alarm conditions associated with both digital input values and the event counter value. Alarm condition activity is logged even during non-scanning intervals. This function provides critical functionality for monitoring safety interlocks or process threshold levels in applications where the test station cannot be continuously monitored. Additionally, two electronically calibrated analog output channels produce ±12V signals, which may be utilized to control other analog-controlled power supplies or act as analog set points.

The DAQM907A provides 0-50 V operation for all I/O connections and allows engineers to simultaneously scan digital input values along with the totalizer channel for purposes of collecting coherent data sets consisting of multiple different signal types when connected to either a DAQ970A or DAQ973A mainframe.
