Keysight/Agilent 34931A Dual Armature Matrix for 34980A
The 34931A from Keysight/Agilent is an interface module with a dual 4×8 armature matrix specifically designed for use in conjunction with the Keysight 34980A multifunction switch/measurement unit. It provides a total of 64 two-wire crossovers that are organized into two independent 4×8 matrices. Each matrix has 32 latched armature relays. All rows and columns of both matrices are formed by a high (H) and low (L) conductor pair. This module allows for simultaneous connection of many different instruments and test points at a device being tested. It offers great versatility for routing in an automated test system for testing devices used in industrial automation applications.
There are two distinct matrices contained in this module, and they have been connected internally to the 34980A's internal analog busses. When switches #921 & #922 are closed, rows five and six of the second matrix are linked to the mainframe's internal digital multimeter so that you may measure voltage and resistance without connecting any additional wiring. This module addresses each relay via a specific channel number. For example, channel #304 represents the third row, fourth column. Thus, it is easy to program these relays from your program using standard programming command.
In addition to its ability to provide a scalable solution for switching in production testing, data acquisition, and functional verification tasks, the 34931A has the capability to cascade two or more 34931s. A module together either internally through the 34980A's analog bus system or externally to form a large matrix of up to 512 two-wire crosspoints in a single mainframe. In terms of electrical specifications, the 34931A has a maximum rating of 300 Volts DC per channel and 2 Amps per channel. The 34931A has a switching time of 100 channels per second, utilizing a standard fifty pin D-sub connector which will allow it to connect to most standard cable types, terminal block types and mass interconnection systems. Therefore, it is a logical decision to utilize the Keysight/Agilent 34931A when you need to expand your measurement capabilities in Automated Test Equipment configurations without having to reconfigure your present wiring.
