Keysight/Agilent 34934A Quad Reed Matrix for 34980A
The 34934A from Keysight/Agilent offers a high density of 512 cross-points, arranged in four separate independent blocks of 4 rows by 32 columns. This Quad-Matrix design will allow for the ability to connect many different devices (instruments) simultaneously to various locations on a device being tested. This greatly simplifies automatic setup for applications including, but not limited to: Semiconductor validation, cable harness testing, and industrial sensor monitoring. And it also supports running several test sequences at once to decrease the total test time required. Allowing for these functions within a single unit minimizes the amount of wire used and helps save rack space while still providing maximum flexibility for measuring.
Another function of this card is that it can link up to other cards in the same mainframe to increase the number of rows available in order to create matrices up to 4096 cross-point connections. Additionally, there is a built-in row disconnect feature that eliminates the problem of capacitive loading typically associated with linking matrix cards together, which normally leads to loss of signal quality in larger systems. The 34934A can switch from 1-wire mode to 2-wire mode depending upon whether you want to do continuity checks, guarded resistance measurements, low-voltage acquisitions, etc. As well as easy wiring through use of an optional high-density screw terminal block (which has two types of configurations): Snap-On Configuration Block & 78-pin D-Sub Connectors and/or Mass Interconnect Fixtures or Standard Cable Assemblies are available and significantly accelerate the development of your test system while minimizing or virtually eliminating hand-wiring errors.
Each Cross-Point is rated for 100 Volts and .50 Amps, and switching speed is 500 channels/second. These specifications support moderate-power industrial signals and fast scanning routines and suit most all applications requiring moderate power and fast scanning. Each reed relay used in the 34934A card provides long life and consistent low contact resistance (both of which are important factors for high throughput production floors). Additionally, due to its reed construction, each relay provides minimal thermal offset for precision low-level measurements. There are many accessories available to expand integration versatility, including the 34934T Terminal Block and Y1134A, Y1137A, Y1138A, and Y1140A Cable Kits.
