Rohde & Schwarz's SMBV100A is a vector signal generator intended for high-fidelity RF signals. This generator is a perfect choice for wireless communication and industrial automation applications since it has sophisticated signal production capabilities and is suited for contemporary digital communication standards. The instrument also supports internal baseband generation using optional modules, like the Rohde & Schwarz SMBV-B10, that enables real-time encoding of complex signals without the need for external software.
The SMBV100A includes an I/Q modulator with more than 500 MHz of external signal bandwidth for UWB and pulsed operations. The AWG (arbitrary waveform generator) enables playback of precalculated waveforms with expanded memory depth up to 256 Msamples for the most efficient testing of complex test procedures within production environments. The modular design includes cost-effective variants of the ARB models (R&S SMBV-B50/B51) for cost-sensitive systems and accepts analog and digital baseband outputs for the analysis of the RF and the baseband components.
The SMBV100A exhibits outstanding phase-coherent signal generating capabilities, which is necessary for phase array testing and multiple unit synchronization. Defense and aerospace applications greatly benefit from the pulse modulation ability, with 90 dB on/off and 4 ns rise/fall periods. Additionally, the device minimizes downtime testing with fast frequency and level switching of less than 1 ms for the List mode with a three-year calibration life, and it guarantees strong error vector magnitude (EVM) with outstanding phase noise performance measuring –128 dBc at 1 GHz.
For genuine signal simulation, the SMBV100A has both additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) and continuous wave (CW) interferer functions, thus eliminating the need for external noise sources. Its high output power helps counter losses that are experienced in complex test arrangements, reducing reliance on external amplifiers. Compatibility with R&S®EX-IQ-Box adapters for testing digital interfaces, and multisegment waveform capability to boost production throughput by enabling fast switching between saved test sequences, are other benefits of the device.
The modular design of the SMBV100A makes it incredibly easy to service when repairs are needed. This generator verifies 5G modules, MIMO systems, and IoT devices for satellite and radar communication applications.
