Keysight/Agilent 34937A 32-Channel General-Purpose Switch for 34980A
The Keysight/Agilent 34937A provides independent control of 32 general-purpose channels in a single module for use with the Keysight 34980A Multifunction Switch/Measure Unit. It includes twenty-eight SPDT (single pole double throw) Form C latching relays rated at 1 amp and four SPST (single pole, single throw) Form A latching relays rated at 5 amps. The user can select how the 5-amp Form A relays behave during power failure so that they will have a consistent behavior when the system comes back on. The 34937A is able to supply up to 300VDC and 1 amp per channel through the twenty-eight Form C channels. These channels are capable of delivering up to 60 watts. The four Form A channels are able to supply 30 Vdc or 250 Vac at 5 amps and are capable of delivering up to 150 watts. The 34937A uses a 50-pin D-sub connection for its interface, which allows it to be easily connected to readily available cables; terminal blocks such as the 34937T; and other mass interconnect solutions, including the Y1135A, Y1136A, and Y1139A.
The Keysight/Agilent 34937A has been used by many industries, such as in test and measurement of industrial automation and test environments, for such things as turning power on/off to the product being tested, controlling indicator lights/status lights, and activating external power relays/solenoids. The latched nature of the relays maintains their contact positions even though there is no power applied to them continuously, resulting in less heat buildup and improved overall system reliability. The 8 amp max I/O current rating and the 250Vac input voltage range allow this module to safely switch AC line voltages to products undergoing burn-in/validation testing. Due to the fact that the Form C channels include change-over contacts, engineers are able to direct signals from one source to another destination. In addition, due to the higher amperage ratings of the Form A channels, engineers can use these channels for larger load applications such as small motors/heating elements. Once the 34937A is installed into the 34980A mainframe, it will become an integral part of an automated test system/process control system/functional test system requiring reliable/repeatable operation of both low-voltage control signals and moderately large power supplies.
