Keysight/Agilent 34941A Quad 1x4 Multiplexer Module for 34980A
The Keysight/Agilent 34941A is an RF multiplexer designed to be used as a plug-in module with the Keysight 34980A Multi-function Switch Measure Unit. It offers four 1x4 RF multiplexors on a single module. In total there are sixteen bidirectional RF switching paths that can switch frequencies at DC through 3 GHz, with all paths having a 50-ohm impedance matching the majority of RF transmission lines. All of the banks use "latch"-type relay switches. These types of relay switches hold their positions once switched (without requiring a constant current flow), which reduces heat generated by the relay and increases the reliability and longevity of the relay switches. The module has SMA female connector inputs, allowing easy integration into most existing 50-ohm cable systems and RF test accessories.
When used within the frequency band of DC to 3 GHz, the 34941A from Keysight/Agilent maintains a very good VSWR (< 1.25), an insertion loss of < 0.6 dB, and > 58 dB of channel-to-channel isolation, all contributing to maintaining signal fidelity when performing high-frequency measurements. Test engineers may now utilize multiple instruments, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and network analyzers without introducing excessive reflection or crosstalk into their measurement systems due to the multiplexer.
All multiplexer banks are completely electrically isolated from each other and from the mainframe chassis, thereby preventing ground loop-induced degradation of dynamic range. Safe operating voltage levels for this module are 30-volts, while safe current level is .5 amperes. Low-power RF/mixed-signal applications such as wireless product development/test, antenna beam-forming experiments, and production-line signal routing can benefit greatly from using this module.
You can cascade all four of the multiplexers together to increase the total number of channels available. Also, you can add multiple modules into one Keysight 34980A Main Frame and link all of them together to create a large multiplexer system with up to 97 different channels. This flexibility gives automated test equipment the ability to direct one RF source to many devices under test ports or to share one reference signal among many instruments. Since each multiplexer bank is independent of each other until you physically connect them together, the Keysight 34941A can also handle multiple simultaneous switching tasks without interfering with each other.
