Keysight/Agilent 34959A Breadboard Module for 34980A
The Keysight/Agilent 34959A Breadboard Module is an adaptable plug-in accessory for the Keysight 34980A multifunction switch/measure unit. This plug-in accessory will provide an extensive workable space of 137 mm x 190 mm to allow you to create your own specific circuit designs for use in conjunction with your existing test equipment. This 34959A module will also be provided with two DC power supplies at +5 V and +12 V, which can be used as both logic and relay power supplies. In addition, there are sixteen additional general-purpose I/O lines (in addition to the forty-eight lines available via the 34980A) and thirty-two relay drives available to help create whatever type of interface you may require. As an added benefit, this module's design does not require any additional support equipment; the breadboard module's front panel contains openings for installing D-Sub connectors so that you may directly connect your devices into the backplane wiring of the 34980A.
This modular configuration is best suited for very complex and highly customized applications such as multi-phase device burn-in testing, high-voltage multiplexing, customized sequential switching, etc., for comprehensive characterization of your electronic components. With direct access to the 34980A's internal DMM and four analog buses, the 34959A can measure and route both AC and DC signals with high precision on a single integrated platform. The main board has 15 countersunk mounting holes for attaching terminal blocks and PC boards. Additionally, the cooling system of the mainframe will provide stable thermal conditions throughout operation. Therefore, reducing the total volume of the assembly and cabling required to operate all functions making the Breadboard Module a "must-have" for engineers who need non-standard functions but still want to utilize their existing automation of the 34980A.
You can program the Keysight/Agilent 34959A using standard SCPI read/write commands. Therefore, programming is completely compatible with existing programs utilizing the 34980A's software framework; no proprietary driver code needs to be written, and no complicated code writing is required. The maximum signal level supported by this module is 42 VDC. Interconnections between the main frame and custom hardware are accomplished using one of three different techniques. Ribbon cable headers are used to make digital connections; soldered connections are made for connecting to the analog bus.
