Keysight/Agilent L4433A Dual/Quad Reed Relay Matrix Switch
The Keysight/Agilent L4433A is an LXI Class C compliant reed relay matrix switch suitable for use in automated test systems for flexible signal routing. It has a fully populated crosspoint configuration, allowing each row to be connected to any column, thus greatly reducing the complexity associated with connecting multiple test equipment to a device under test at multiple connection points. Depending upon your needs, this instrument can be configured as a dual 4x8, 8x8, or 4x16 two-wire matrix with 64 cross points or reconfigured as a single-wire quad 4x8 matrix with 128 cross points. The Ethernet port enables network-based remote operation and viewing of the unit's status. The unit also includes a graphical web interface for configuring and troubleshooting the unit without having to install any additional software.
Each channel on the L4433A matrix uses a non-latching reed relay that allows fast switching times along with extended mechanical life. The signal voltage supported by each channel is +/-150V peak, and the switching current is 0.5A (carry current = 1.5A) with a maximum power dissipation of 10W. Each column contains an inrush resistor to help protect the relays from damage caused by large current surges. The analog bus connector simplifies the process of routing the output of one or more channels through an external digital multimeter or cascading multiple matrices together to create even larger switching systems.
Some of the advanced features provided by the matrix include programmable user-defined switch sequence names and execution of these sequences when called; external trigger capability to provide exact timing control over the switching events; and an internal relay cycle counter to track the number of times each relay is operated so that you may perform predictive maintenance.
Standard 50-pin D-sub connectors with gold-plated contact areas will accommodate either detachable terminal blocks or mass interconnects. Software drivers are available for most popular programming languages and platforms, and there are LAN ports to simplify integrating this matrix into your automated test system. This L4433A Dual/Quad 4x8 Reed Matrix would be ideal for applications such as functional testing, characterizing semiconductors, and multi-instrument switching where high density of channels, remote access, and low on-resistance are important. Its small size and LXI control via Ethernet port enable it to be easily scaled to fit almost any automated test system application.
