Keysight/Agilent L4452A Multifunction DAQ with Totalizer
The L4452A from Keysight/Agilent is a compact LXI Class C compliant multifunction data acquisition module that has been designed to provide flexible system control and sensing capabilities at the point-of-test in an automation test environment. This module is a single-earth referenced model, which includes 4 channels of 8-bit digital input/outputs, a 100 kHz gated totalizer, and 2 analog outputs (±12 V). These features are integrated into a single module to make available a wide variety of sense and control applications. Its small form factor along with its Ethernet connectivity allows for placing the module strategically close to the device being tested. This reduces cable length and also simplifies system architecture while allowing users to take advantage of remote access and control.
The L4452A offers a simple method of meeting many of the typical test requirements by providing a means of controlling external devices; sensing the status of limit switches; and monitoring the activity on digital buses. While there are no handshake protocols required, the 32-bit digital I/O can support drive levels up to 42 VDC using an external power source. In addition, the gated totalizer can count events like pulses or encoder signals. Finally, the analog output channels can be configured to either produce ±12 VDC or 10 mA DC with a 1 mV DC resolution. This makes it suitable for use in generating bias voltages to a UUT, driving programmable power supplies, or producing accurate setpoints for control systems. Both the digital and totalizer inputs can be included in a scan, and the alarm limits associated with each input channel will be evaluated continuously during each scan to capture and record critical conditions occurring between scans.
To make integration easier, the Multifunction DAQ uses a 50-pin DB25 connector with gold-plated contacts for connections to measurements. Optional detachable terminal blocks and/or mass interconnect solutions are also available. The L4452A utilizes the LXI standard to provide both a fully featured graphical web interface for easy configuration and troubleshooting, along with Ethernet connectivity that enables high-speed remote access, private network filtering for improved throughput, and remote debugging. In addition, comprehensive software drivers are provided to support most common programming environments, thereby accelerating the test development and integration process, making it a valuable resource for engineers looking to decrease their costs associated with testing while maintaining robust system control.
