Keysight/Agilent U2351A USB Modular Data Acquisition
The Keysight U2351A is an ultra-fast USB (Universal Serial Bus) DAQ (Data Acquisition Module), offering sixteen analog input channels, configured as either single-ended or eight differential input channels, all having 16-bit resolution and sampling rates up to 250 kSa/s. The U2351A has two analog output channels, both having 16-bit resolution and updating at a rate of 1 MSa/s. These output channels allow for DC levels and standard waveforms such as sine, triangle, square, sawtooth, and noise to be created; arbitrary waveforms are also available using SCPI (Standard Commands for Programmable Instruments).
Additionally, the U2351A has twenty-four programmable TTL (Transistor-Transistor Logic) digital lines and two general-purpose counter inputs, which enable the user to directly connect the U2351A to switches, relays, and solenoids for closed-loop control. In addition, a BenchVue software license is included with the unit. This license will greatly enhance instrument setup and facilitate the creation of automated tests.
The U2351A supports several different operational modes. It can act like a single request measurement mode where it behaves similarly to a DMM. It can also behave like a streaming acquisition mode and behave like a basic oscilloscope with some very simple trigger conditions. The Burst Mode feature allows the U2351A to simultaneously sample across each of its analog input channels and achieve the fastest possible capture speed available from the device. If the U2351A is placed within the U2781A Modular Chassis, then multiple modules can be synchronized using either the System Synchronous Interface or Star Triggers. With this configuration, it allows for an increase of the total number of analog input/output channels to 384, making it well suited for high-density data logging, intermittent signal detection, and closed-loop stimulus-response testing in manufacturing floors and laboratory environments.
In terms of connectivity options, the U2351A uses USB 2.0 and includes USBTMC-USB488 compliance, allowing for plug-and-play and hot-swappability on Windows systems. Additional Terminal Blocks (U2901A or U2902A) provide additional ease-of-use when it comes to wiring signals to/from the DAQ. The U2351A has been tested to integrate with Keysight VEE, MATLAB R2007a, NI LabVIEW, and Microsoft Visual Studio. By doing so, engineers will have no problem integrating it into their current test software environment with little-to-no reprogramming required. Additionally, the self-calibration capabilities of the DAQ ensure that measurements remain accurate over time.
