Keysight/Agilent U2652A USB Modular Digital I/O
The U2652A from Keysight/Agilent is a high-density (64 channels) optically isolated digital input module connected via high-speed USB 2.0 (Hi-Speed), which can be used as a standalone unit or within modular test systems. All inputs are protected against transients by means of a transient voltage suppressor capable of blocking peaks of up to 1250 V, thus protecting your computer from electrical overvoltages that may occur on the shop floor. The input voltages are compatible with the most commonly used industrial logic sources (limit switches, proximity sensors, etc.), since they fall in the wide range of 10-24 VDC. Thanks to its high number of channels, you will be able to reduce the use of several I/O cards; this implies less use of space in the racks and lower overall costs.
The Keysight U2652A also has an internal isolated 5-Vdc power source. This allows you to perform simple functionality tests using only the internal power supply. In addition, thanks to the wide range of the external supply (from 5V to 35V), it is possible to connect the outputs of the relays or the actuators present in the system. The isolation between input circuitry and the USB bus prevents the creation of "ground loops" and rejects electromagnetic interference coming from the environment (as in those typical of motor control panels or welding stations). Other common applications are reading the signals produced by the encoders on industrial robots, monitoring of conveyor belts through sensors, and detection of valve positions in automatic assembly lines. For each input there is available an interrupt function, which causes the host system to generate an event whenever there is a change in the state of one or more inputs. This interrupt continuously monitors the changes in the states of all inputs, instead of requiring continuous polling.
Furthermore, virtual port grouping allows you to logically group together any combination of eight input bits and make them simultaneously readable by your host system, allowing you to check whether a certain condition occurs on multiple sensors without having to physically modify the wiring. In addition, both SCPI and IVI-COM command sets allow for integration with Keysight development tools and BenchVue software. The ability to log commands provides a powerful tool for debugging and duplicating test scripts. This facilitates the automation of test equipment, data collection, and monitoring of complex systems for purposes of quality control, product validation, and teaching.
