Keysight 8710-1765 Torque Wrench
The Keysight 8710-1765 is a precise torque wrench used to couple connectors with controlled rotational torques. It has an adjustable value of 90 N-cm (8 in-lbs) with an overall size of 5/16" (7.9 mm) between the flats in the coupler nut to fit connectors such as the 2.92 mm standard connectors and 3.5 mm standard connectors. This tool is produced to prevent over- or under-tightening in installation to obtain signal integrity and physical stability in systems with frequencies that are high.
Primarily used in conjunction with Keysight N1055A module N1076A-CR1/N1076B-CR1 clock recovery products, the 8710-1765 is used to secure terminations in systems in Digital Component Analyzers (DCA) systems. It is used especially in relation to 3.5 mm connectors in DCA systems to prevent confusion with torque wrenches used in relation to 3.5 mm NMD connectors used in relation to test ports in analyzers where an additional tool is used. Wrench's 0.9 Nm setting is in accordance with manufacturers recommendations to pair male 3.5 mm or 2.92 mm connectors to female connectors to achieve repeatability while minimizing wear.
The design has an open head with a 5/16" to fit securely over connector wrench flats in an attempt to avoid rotation during assembly. This is required where mating connectors can influence both electrical performance and mechanical alignment by inducing motion relative to each other. Third-party connectors have partial compatibility, whereas this product is optimally functional in working with Agilent connector products because sizes in third-party connectors have discrepancies. Key applications to laboratory equipment setups, communication equipment systems, and process automation equipment in industries where accurate installation of coaxial connectors is required. Calibration setups and tests where stable torque is required to ensure intactness in high-frequency signals are achieved by the 8710-1765. Industry standards in specifications in both 2.92 mm and 3.5 mm interfaces mean this is specialist equipment used by technicians and engineers working with precision instrumentation. Maintaining accurate measurements in torque reduces the potential to damage connectors, reliability in measurements is increased, and equipment performance is ensured in the long term.
