Agilent 81533B HP Optical Head Interface Module
The Agilent 81533B, originally found under the manufacturer Hewlett-Packard (HP), is an Optical Head Interface Module that is specifically designed to operate as a plug-in accessory component for the HP 8153A Lightwave Multimeter mainframe. This interface module is compatible with a wide range of optical heads, such as the 81525A, 81520A, 81524A, and 81521B. Across various wavelengths and power levels, the 81533B Interface Module offers highly accurate optical power measurements.
Certain technical specifications of the 81533B differ depending on the optical head that it is used with. The wavelength range is 10 dBm to -100 dBm when used with the 81520A, 3 dBm to -80 dBm with the 81521B, 3 dBm to -90 dBm with the 81524A, and 27 d Bm to -70 dBm or 23 to -70 dBm when used with the 81525A (1250nm - 1650nm or 800nm - 1650nm respectively). Likewise, the noise varies by optical head. When used with the 81533B interface module, the noise of the 81520A optical head is less than 0.5 pW. The noise of the 81521B, the 81524A, and the 81525A are <50 pW, <5 pW, and <500 pW respectively. The applicable fiber type is parallel beam, and is consistent across every optical head type.
In terms of environmental specifications, the Interface Module can be safely stored within a temperature range of -40°C to 70°C. Extreme temperatures that may cause condensation should be strictly avoided. During operation, the environmental temperature should range in between 0°C to 40°C (0°C to 35°C when used with the 81525A optical head). The Agilent 81533B has a warm-up time of 20 minutes prior to operation, and it is recommended to recalibrate the device every 2 years.
Physically, the dimensions of the Interface Module measure 75mm × 32mm × 335mm (2.8 in. × 1.3 in. × 13.2 in.) and it has a net weight of 0.6 kg (1.3 lbs.). The optical heads measure 37.5mm in diameter with a length of 140mm (1.5” x 5.5”), with a net weight of 0.45 kg (1 lbs.).
The 81533B has been Discontinued by the manufacturer and is regarded as Obsolete, but it will remain available in perpetuity with Apex Waves!
