Pickering 40-965-200-M PXI Connector Block
The Pickering 40-965-200-M 200-pin male connector block was developed to be used for both PXI system integration and industrial automation applications. The 40-965-200-M has a metal backshell, which secures a cable clamp for needed strain relief, protecting against physical stress from harsh environments. Its main purpose is to provide an outlet for high-density signal routing, providing engineers a method to directly attach test signals, control lines, and power from external instrumentation to a PXI module’s front panel by connecting to the module via a non-custom cable assembly.
Each terminal of the 40-965-200-M uses a simple and easy-to-operate rising cage screw design to reduce the possibility of damaging thin copper wires while installing them into the terminal and assure a constant quality electrical connection. The 40-965-200-M can handle a maximum current of 1A and a maximum voltage of 150V DC. The use of gold over nickel contacts assures low contact resistance. For optimal performance, it is recommended that users employ PTFE- or PFA-insulated cables to utilize the superior insulating characteristics of these types of cable, allowing for the maximum utilization of the 20 AWG wire capability. The addition of a backshell to the 40-965-200-M is necessary to ensure that there are no defined exit points for the cable and to maintain the product’s specified voltage breakdown rating.
Compatibility with PXI card frames is specifically designed for this connector block. The 40-965-200-M includes a 4-40 UNC male screw lock mechanism to mechanically mate to the corresponding female connector on a PXI module. The 40-965-200-M does not support standard PCI cards, other module configurations, or cables with a male screw lock. In automated test equipment and data acquisition systems, the Pickering Connector Block is an important part of developing a flexible, modular test rack, providing a means to connect sensors, actuators, and DUT interfaces to the core PXI controller and instrumentation modules for accurate measurements and controls.
