Spirent ECG Enhanced Subscriber Interface
The Spirent ECG Enhanced Subscriber Interface is a high-end circuit interface card that generates and switches calls within telecommunication systems. Within Spirent's modular test platforms, this interface is used in the Abacus1 Test System to support a wide range of telephony applications. This greatly enhances functionality for the analog subscriber lines supported. Five circuits are provided per card, with each circuit using a 2-wire analog connection that efficiently handles high volumes of call traffic.
In test environments, the ECG interface is very critical, providing bulk call generation, switching, and call control in scenarios that need reliable voice traffic simulation. This allows the Abacus1 system to support a range of simulated call conditions and telecommunications protocols, including DTMF, MF R1, MF R2, SS5, and pulse dialing. Its programmable architecture makes it easily integrate with numerous telephony networks around the world and hence is versatile for use on test scenarios that include Public Switched Telephone Network-emulation, ISDN, T1, and E1 channels.
The ability to mix call generation and switching on a single ECG interface platform allows the Abacus1 system to simultaneously function as a call generator and a switch, thereby making configurations of tests more productive and complex. The support for generating and analyzing multi-channel traffic over various circuit types is necessary in test scenarios that require such capabilities. It handles up to 824,000 Busy Hour Call Attempts via E1 Primary Rate Access, furthering Abacus1's suitability for the heavy-duty testing of telecoms with support for a number of protocol options.
Equipped with integrated protocol analyzers, the ECG interface provides comprehensive and real-time call statistics, error detection, and verification of signals. This allows testers to observe the sequences of calls, verify the accuracy of call routing, and also analyze such quality parameters as delay, jitter, and speech clarity. The interface is designed for ease of control via Spirent's Windows-based user interface, which allows streamlined configuration, management, and tracking of results in real time.
The ECG Enhanced Subscriber Interface is widely used in test systems found in private branch exchanges, central offices, and several telecom applications.
