The Spirent DLS-6726-18 ADSL2 Multi Wireline Production Simulator is a very specialized test system intended to perform stringent quality control in manufacturing environments related to the production of ADSL2/ADSL2+/ADSL2++ broadband access products. It is designed to simulate the behavior of twisted copper cabling found in high-density production environments by reproducing realistic test conditions and guaranteeing that broadband equipment complies with performance standards before reaching consumers. It emulates 26 AWG twisted-pair cables up to 24,000 feet in length in 1,000-foot increments, supporting a bandwidth range from DC to 4.5 MHz to accommodate high-speed ADSL2 signals with accuracy.
The DLS-6726-18 model is fitted with 18 ports and enables the manufacturer to test multiple DSL lines in parallel from a single 1U rack-mountable chassis, enabling the scaling of equipment performance testing under standardized and controlled conditions. This multitone simulator is targeted at the testing of high-bandwidth ADSL2++ services that require an emulator with specific line characteristics so that the signal integrity and performance for various loop lengths can be effectively ensured. It is easily integrated into production environments and will bring down costs by cost-effective large-scale testing without any sacrifice of accuracy or consistency.
This is to say that the Spirent DLS-6726-18 can be controlled remotely through the RS-232 serial interface; therefore, operators can modify line lengths and other simulation parameters from a computer connected to the device. The device comes with software featuring a user-friendly graphical user interface compatible with Windows operating systems. It also supports custom script-based control. This flexible control setup allows the integration of the simulator into automated testing systems to efficiently handle high-volume test needs. Up to 16 COM ports are supported by the DLS-6726-18, and hence it is very convenient for complicated production line set-ups that involve several units.
The DLS-6726-18 package includes a simulator chassis, an AC to DC wall adapter, an RS-232 interconnection cable, and control software. LEDs on the front panel provide instant visual indication of power and command status. Connections to the devices under test are made through RJ-11 ports on the back panel and maintain signal stability, emulating real deployment. With environmental tolerance from 10°C to 40°C, this simulator meets the demands of a standard production environment.
