Spirent SR5500 Wireless Channel Emulator
The Spirent SR5500 Wireless Channel Emulator is a high-precision test solution that simulates the most complex, real-world RF environments. It provides flexible and accurate channel emulation, including the reproduction of key fading conditions, interference, and spatial conditions for wireless receiver tests in a wide range of applications. The SR5500 is utilized by engineers and researchers in everything from research and development projects to design verification and conformance testing. It is intended to test wireless technologies of LTE, GSM, CDMA, and WiMAX, including MIMO setups. It has broad testing capability in controlled lab environments without costly and variable field testing.
The advanced fading engine of SR5500 models RF conditions to realistically test SISO and MIMO wireless receivers for state-of-the-art technologies such as LTE, HSPA, WLAN, and WiMAX. This emulator allows the emulation of both real-to-life signal degradation and interference to make sure that devices operate reliably under a wide variety of channel conditions. It produces realistic fading effects, spatial channel modeling, and AWGN, allowing engineers to identify and fix problems in performance early in the design cycle—ahead of costly revisions that can delay time-to-market.
The SR5500 was designed as a modular system: Users can choose either a complete system or purchase individual modules. This allows flexibility in both test configurations and investment for the future. It will support the integration of a number of modules for seamless, synchronized, bi-directional MIMO and beamforming tests. Furthermore, an intuitive interface allows users to easily use it and manage complex test scenarios. This flexibility makes it the darling of laboratories that may often have to switch between various test setups, from stand-alone modules to integrated systems of great complexity.
Spirent's unique Fading Lab and Virtual Drive Test features bring "real-world" conditions into the lab by way of enabling replay of dynamic mobility scenarios that are otherwise costly and hard to conduct in the field. The equipment will enable engineers to generate automated and repeatable tests with realistic drive-test environments that enhance the accuracy and reliability of device performance evaluation. Compatibility of the SR5500 with 3GPP and other industry standards makes it suitable for a wide range of wireless testing needs.
