Keysight E1412A High-Accuracy Multimeter
The Keysight E1412A is a 6.5-digit resolution multimeter with a single-slot, C-size, message-based VXI module for high precision measurement applications in industrial automation and test systems. The product boasts a high-performance multi-slope III A/D converter, making it possible to achieve high linearity and low noise, and thereby facilitating accurate DC and AC measurements. The module offers a wide set of functions, such as DC/AC voltage (up to 300 V), DC/AC current (up to 3 A), 2- and 4-wire resistance (up to 100 MΩ), frequency (up to 300 kHz), and period measurements.
Designed for system integration, the E1412A provides fast configuration with 30 function changes per second and 65 range changes per second to reduce downtime in automated configurations. Its internal memory stores 1000 readings at 4.5-digit resolution, which enables buffered data acquisition for high-speed sampling. NULL, MIN/MAX, LIMIT, dB, and dBm calculations are sophisticated features that enhance flexibility in test applications. DC voltage accuracy is up to ±0.0019% in controlled conditions, with temperature coefficients that maintain stability in the range 0°C to 55°C.
For AC measurements, the module uses true RMS detection up to 5:1 crest factor, along with selectable slow, medium, or fast filters to balance noise rejection and bandwidth (3 Hz–300 kHz). Reciprocal counting, gate times of 10 ms to 1 s, and auto-ranging are used for frequency and period measurements for flexible signal analysis. Input protection offers 300 V protection on all ranges and externally accessible fuses for current measurements.
The E1412A is deployed in VXI mainframes with A16 data transfer for effective data communication. Low input bias current (<30 pA) and switchable 10 MΩ/10 GΩ input impedance minimize loading effects on sensitive circuits. For reliability purposes, the module has a 1-hour warm-up time to reach calibration specifications and power-off state retention. It finds application in areas from automated production testing, R&D validation, through quality control, particularly where integration with VXI-based systems and high repeatability are necessary.
