It supports a single-port configuration with either OC-3c/STM-1 (155 Mbps) or OC-12c/STM-4 (622 Mbps) line rates depending on the configuration. Ideal for environments using SMB-600 and SMB-6000B chassis, the POS-3500Bs lets you perform critical performance evaluations with Spirent's unique SmartMetrics technology. This enables detailed analysis of key metrics such as sequence tracking, latency monitoring, and IP frame sequencing, which are crucial to understanding the real-world load-handling capacity and behavior of a network under heavy data traffic. The POS-3500Bs allow customers to execute industry-standard tests that guarantee the reliable production of performance metrics for latency, bandwidth, and total throughput—the two most critical parameters in ensuring data integrity and optimizing POS router and network configurations.
The module can simulate up to 8,192 independent IP streams, supporting analysis over extensive flows to stress the data processing capabilities of a network. Supported SONET/SDH framing and payload scrambling ensure compatibility with diverse network configurations to meet complicated demands such as traffic shaping and protocol encapsulation. The leading-edge capabilities of the module also include configurable frame sizes, frame rates, and transmission modes to enable all sorts of network testing scenarios, from single-burst to multi-burst and continuous modes.
The POS-3500Bs also supports SmartMetrics Layer 2 and 3 tests, which are accurate measurements of inter-networking efficiency between POS and other network protocols, such as Gigabit Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, ATM, and Frame Relay. This allows for comprehensive system performance evaluations to be performed with millions of concurrent client-server sessions emulated. And an onboard 1 MB capture buffer, this greatly increases diagnostic capabilities to allow filtered event logs to be exported for detailed analysis; the POS-3500Bs are versatile and powerful tools for network engineers who want to keep the high standards of a POS system.
