The Spirent XEN-4001A is a 10GbE LAN/WAN personality board that extends the test capability of the Spirent TestCenter's multi-MSA test modules, such as the MSA-1001A and MSA-2001B. The XEN-4001A provides unparalleled accuracy and flexibility for the testing of network equipment with support for both LAN and WAN protocols. This supports the industry-standard XENPAK optical and copper transceiver interfaces, thus assuring seamless integration into an extensive variety of applications in Ethernet traffic testing.
The three different optical wavelengths that are supported are -850 nm, 1310 nm, and 1550 nm. With these, the XEN-4001A provides versatile connectivity all while maintaining compatibility with IEEE-compliant 10GBASE-CX4 copper cabling. The LAN transmission rates of the XEN-4001A measure 10.3125 Gbps, while the WAN transmission rates measure 9.58464 Gbps. Both transmission rate types have 10GbE, making it an ideal option for testing equipment under real-world conditions. By utilizing Spirent's Inspire Architecture, the XEN-4001A is able to conduct operations in real time. It is equipped with multi-threading capabilities that enhance the efficiency and accuracy of tests.
Switches, routers, and link aggregators are among the 10GbE network equipment that the Spirent XEN-4001A is perfect for testing. The XEN-4001A allows these devices to be validated under various conditions, such as stress testing with controlled errors, to ensure adherence to product and process requirements. Ensuring sophisticated network feature performance, including QoS prioritization, VLAN tagging, and SLA bandwidth verification, the personality board offers accurate latency, jitter, and throughput measurements.
Because of its scalable architecture, the XEN-4001A can handle a wide range of test situations that range from Layer 2 to Layer 3 functional testing and protocol evaluations at Layer 4 through Layer 7. The XEN-4001A supports up to 32,767 transmit streams and 65,535 receive streams per port, hence very capable for large-scale network testing. Equipped with a rich set of traffic generation and analysis features, the XEN-4001A simplifies complex testing tasks and provides real-time insights into network performance and stability.
