Spirent NSA-400 ADSL Noise Generator
The Spirent NSA-400 is a sophisticated, stand-alone noise generator designed for testing and validating digital transmission systems, including Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line or ADSL, among other broad-band technologies. It allows users to apply different types of noise impairments and types of interference on telecom signals in conformance with international standards from ANSI, ITU-T, and ETSI and is fast becoming indispensable in conducting tests on digital communication lines.
The NSA-400 incorporates seven unique noise generation sections that simulate a wide range of signal impairments: a white noise generator, a low- and high-frequency Near-End Crosstalk generator, a Shaped Noise generator, an Impulse generator, a Power Line Interference generator, and a Longitudinal noise source. These different types of noises can be used singly or in various combinations to allow the user to simulate very complicated interference environments for accurate communications systems performance testing. Moreover, it provides noise-level, pulse shape, and frequency control to make the most accurate simulation and suitable for industrial benchmarking.
The noise this analyzer generates makes it particularly fit for ADSL technologies but also versatile for broader applications within digital communication testing. It provides the ability to test against a lot of standards, including ANSI T1.413, ITU-T G.992.2, and ETSI HDSL. The NSA 400 can be set up through its IEEE 488 and RS-232 interfaces for compatibility with a wide range of automated test environments and easy integration into a system for network testing.
It also provides for the convenience of storing user-defined noise impairment profiles, which users can call upon when performing future tests, thereby allowing for adaptability in case testing requirements change. The NSA 400 also allows for the loading of noise profiles through a Windows-based software interface that makes customization convenient.
It offers the highest degree of flexibility and ease of use through compatible software, which provides multiple choices on how to handle the unit, including control, monitoring, and retrieving data. It is delivered with the main chassis, control software, power cable, and user manual. The equipment is perfect for telecom engineers, network developers, and quality assurance managers to test whether their systems are resilient and comply with diverse and challenging network conditions.
