Tektronix VX4234 VXI Digital Multimeter Module
The Tektronix VX4234 multi-meter module is a precision measurement instrument designed for advanced automated systems. The unit delivers wide electrical measurement capability through its VXI message based architecture. The multi-meter offers input resistance of 10 M-Ohms ±0.5% on its 20 V, 200 V and 700 V ranges. It provides greater than 1 G-Ohms resistance on its remaining DC ranges which ensures minimal loading during sensitive voltage measurements. The unit maintains normal mode rejection greater than 73 dB at 50 Hz and 60 Hz.
The VX4234 DMM also supports effective common mode rejection greater than 115 dB at DC and greater than 125 dB at 50 Hz and 60 Hz when operated with 1 k-Ohms unbalance. It provides a sensitivity of 10 nA on its 200 µA range which supports low level current measurement tasks.
The range selection may be executed through programmable auto-range or direct user specified selection which supports system controlled scaling. The VX4234 executes automatic up-ranging when signals exceed 100% full scale. The module shifts down-range when measurements fall below 9% full scale which maintains optimal resolution. The maximum allowable input is 700 V for both DC and AC RMS signals. The unit permits 500 V input when powered off on its lowest three operating ranges. It uses a floating input type with ±300 VDC common to ground and ±200 VDC common to guard which maintains isolation.
The VX4234 module supports maximum reading rates of 15 readings per second at 60 Hz. The unit delivers 12.5 readings per second at 50 Hz which supports controlled sampling. The external trigger input accepts TTL low true signaling. The trigger loading equals two TTL loads which ensures compatibility with digital hardware. The minimum trigger pulse width is 50 ns and maximum trigger pulse width is 33.3 ms which supports wide timing margins. The Tektronix VX4234 multimeter module is fully compatible with the VXI-bus specification for message based devices. The VXI protocol uses word serial communication which supports structured data exchange. The buffered mode write rate reaches 200 Kbytes per second. The non-buffered mode write rate reaches 20 Kbytes per second which ensures stable system throughput.
