VIAVI T-BERD 8000 Multi-Test Platform
The VIAVI T-BERD 8000 is a highly flexible, modular, scalable test platform that has been developed to enable the installation and maintenance of contemporary high-speed telecommunications networks. This multi-purpose device integrates a wide variety of testing functionalities in one rugged device so that it can expedite the workflow of installation and troubleshooting by technicians and engineers working in the field. The T-BERD 8000 is a critical tool used for characterizing the physical layer of telecommunications networks and verifying the performance of communications services within increasingly complex optical and Ethernet-based transport networks.
The VIAVI T-BERD 8000 provides users with a variety of options, including both standard and optional applications, to perform a large variety of tests on communications networks. The Multi-Test Platform includes standard optical testing capability with options available that include an optical power meter, a visual fault locator, and an optical talk set. In addition to the basic optical testing capability provided with this product, there are also plug-in modules for performing more sophisticated optical testing such as Optical Time Domain Reflectometry (OTDR), Optical Spectrum Analysis (OSA), and Bit Error Rate Testing (BERT). The ability to provide both basic and advanced testing capability makes it possible to characterize completely the characteristics of CWDM and DWDM fiber optic systems as well as activate and commission the next generation of transport and datacom services. The T-BERD 8000 was also designed to be efficient with features such as automated test sequences, onboard post-processing, and a high-visibility touchscreen interface to provide a fast, easy-to-use workflow in a variety of field environments.
The T-BERD 8000 also includes connectivity and remote collaboration at its core. Integrated with 4G, 5G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, the platform provides real-time data transfer capabilities, remote access for coaching purposes, and remote reporting capabilities. Field technicians can immediately upload test results, download configuration files, and share their findings remotely from the job site. The T-BERD 8000 is designed to withstand harsh field environments with a broad operating temperature range, extended battery life, and a stackable and field-upgradeable design to ensure the platform can continue to meet the needs of future network testing requirements and protect the long-term investment of the end user.
