VIAVI ONX-580 Modular Test Platform
The VIAVI ONX-580 is an expandable test system that can be used by field technicians to perform qualification, deployment, and maintenance of broadband services in the field. Besides providing a full range of tools to qualify xDSL and G.fast installations as well as providing a full range of diagnostic tools for FTTH installations, the ONX-580 also provides diagnostic tools for copper (copper cable) and home networking diagnostics. Therefore, the platform will meet the requirement for a single test instrument that can verify service delivery and diagnose in-home wiring faults and ensure that triple-play services are operating properly at the customer's premises.
The ONX-580 has an open modular design that allows it to be upgraded for new access technologies through hardware and/or software upgrades, thus providing the long-term reliability and adaptability required for changing access technologies. The test platform has a multi-touch user interface, which makes it easy to use, and comes with VIAVI's OneCheck feature, which is an automated test that can greatly simplify complex tasks, using simple pass or fail criteria. The device is equipped with integrated cloud connectivity through StrataSync that allows for efficient asset management, data flow, and remote technical support capabilities. A companion mobile app is available for use by technicians to have remote control capability over the ONX-580 and enhance their data workflow.
Sync testing capabilities allow users to measure DSL link quality and packet statistics and test both bonded and vectored pair performance. Users can also use the ONX-580 to test home wiring, such as wire mapping and tone generation, and assess WiFi signal strength and access point performance. Copper-based infrastructure testing capabilities of the device include time-domain reflectometry (TDR), resistance, capacitance, balance, and spectral analysis. Additional software modules are available that add to the functionality of the test platform, including IP video and VoIP service testing, RFC 6349 TrueSpeed throughput measurements, HPNA network checks, and resistive fault locating. Overall, the ONX-580 will provide field technicians with a unified, future-proof solution to quickly deploy services and resolve issues on the first visit and improve network quality and operational efficiencies.
