Keysight/Agilent E1358A 8-Channel Strain FET Multiplexer
The E1358A from Keysight/Agilent is a 350 Ohm strain FET multiplexer built for industrial test automation. It supports guarded DCV voltage and 2 wire resistance measurements across all eight channels simultaneously. The model allows strain measurements to operate on adjacent channels without degrading signal accuracy. This module is engineered to deliver reliable and repeatable signal conditioning for strain gage applications. The multiplexer supports 120 V DC or AC RMS and 170 V peak across terminal to terminal and terminal to chassis. Each channel accommodates a maximum non inductive current of 50 mA under continuous operating conditions. The maximum power per channel is rated at 1 VA for safe operation without overloading the circuitry. The closed channel resistance is 100 Ω ± 10 % which directly reflects the protection resistor value in circuit.
The channel to channel crosstalk on the Strain FET Multiplexer measures - 80 dB at frequencies from 1 kHz to 100 kHz. At 1 MHz, the crosstalk specification is - 60 dB and degrades to - 40 dB at 10 MHz. All crosstalk measurements are referenced to a 50 Ω source and load with protection resistors shorted. The thermal offset per channel on the FET multiplexer remains below 4 μV measured differentially from High to Low. The screw terminal wire size acceptance on the model spans from 26 AWG minimum to 16 AWG maximum. The module requires + 5 V and + 12 V supply voltages to support full switching and excitation functions. The peak module current is 0.53 A at + 5 V and 0.13 A at + 12 V during peak operational demand.
The dynamic current draw on both supply rails measures 0.01 A per rail during normal module switching. The cooling is specified at 0.02 mm H?O with 0.10 liter per second airflow per slot. With a maximum excitation voltage of +5.4 V, the E1358A Multiplexer provides the strain gage excitation. Leadwire resistance measurements on channels 0 and 1 are accessible for diagnostic purposes. The diagnostic interface provides access to both the guard voltage and the internal half bridge voltage.
