Keysight/Agilent E1430A VXI Digitizer with DSP and Local Bus
The Keysight/Agilent E1430A is a C size one slot register based VXI module engineered for high resolution signal digitization. It is capable of spectral analysis and transient capture alongside IF digitization and precision waveform recording. The model delivers an alias protected input bandwidth spanning continuously from 0 Hz to 4 MHz. A built in anti aliasing filter removes all signal components above 5 MHz before any sampling occurs. The 10 MHz sample rate ensures complete and accurate signal representation for input bandwidths up to 5 MHz.
The digitizer employs a two pass sub ranging ADC architecture that delivers 23 bits of raw resolution. This precision ADC generates 23 bit digital outputs at sample rates reaching up to 10.24 MHz. The amplitude resolution substantially exceeds the converter's inherent analog noise floor making the effects of quantization entirely negligible. The remaining primary error mechanisms are limited to random white noise and inherent linearity errors. The digitizer implements a 50 ohm pseudofloating input circuit for effective wideband analog signal conditioning. The cable ground is isolated from chassis ground through 50 ohms in parallel with a 0.04 µF capacitor. This design effectively breaks up low frequency ground loops while maintaining the key benefits of a differential input. At high frequencies, the capacitor shorts the common-mode signal to further suppress its impact on measurements.
The E1430A digitizer provides a single 50 ohm input channel with a voltage range spanning 7.8 mV to 8 Vpeak. This input configuration maintains consistent signal fidelity throughout the complete operational voltage range of the digitizer. The module supports both VME and Local Bus interfaces for flexible integration within VXI based instrumentation systems. The data is transferred over the high speed Local Bus at a continuous throughput of 40 Mbytes per second. An integrated 8 MB high speed memory within the model performs two critical data management functions. It captures high speed transients enabling detailed and accurate post acquisition analysis during demanding single shot measurement operations. It also serves as a FIFO buffer enabling uninterrupted and continuous digitizing during block-mode DSP data transfers.
