Keysight/Agilent E1466A 4 x 64 Relay Matrix Switch
The Keysight E1466A 4 x 64 is a relay matrix switch that offers a thermal offset across the differential path that remains within 5 mV per channel. The module uses a modular row-expansion design with onboard memory for storing channel lists, and QUIC terminal blocks simplify wiring. The module occupies a single C-size VXI slot as an A16 register-based slave device with no shared memory or bus requirements. The latching relay design maintains channel state even without power by eliminating the need for continuous power during extended test sequences.
This is a 2-wire switching arrangement that can be used with multiple measurement instruments. This relay matrix switch, E1466A, features VXI switching technology capable of switching up to 200 V DC between any terminals and supports both AC and DC peak values of 238 V p-p and 170 V rms, respectively. A maximum of 1 A (DC and AC peak) is allowed per channel, suitable for most typical signal switching applications. The power budget is 30 W per channel and 62.5 VA with a resistive load under conditions.
The module achieves a closed channel resistance of less than 4.0 ohms at the worst cross-point and a thermal offset of less than 5 mV across the differential path. Maximum current per channel common is given as 1 ADC / 1 AAC peak when the load is noninductive. The unit is configured with firmware revision A.08 and offers support for various SCPI environments. Both support I-SCPI for Windows 3.1 and Series 700 and also C-SCPI for LynxOS and Series 700.
The E1466A relay matrix switch is designed for high-density switching applications in automated testing where deterministic and reliable switching are critical. It has a simplified software interface with control from the register, making it compatible with any standard VXI controller.
The VXI mainframe of the E1466 unit provides up to 3,072 two-wire crosspoints for up to 13 slots by making it useful for complex test setups and high-density automated switching applications. Quick-connect terminal blocks overcome the screw terminal assembly, increase setup speed, serviceability, and system flexibility, and save wiring time.
