Keysight/Agilent E1470A 60-Channel RF Multiplexer

The E1470A from Keysight (formerly from Agilent) is a 1-slot RF multiplexer packaged as a C size register based VXI module. The module integrates twenty independent 3:1 multiplexers designed to support high density RF switching across test systems. These independent multiplexers can be cascaded to form a single 60-channel configuration. The multiplexer supports a maximum input voltage of 30 V from center to shield or center to chassis connections. The maximum current per channel or common connection is rated at 450 mA ac rms. The maximum power handling per channel or common connection is rated at 10 VA under ac conditions. The DC closed channel resistance is specified at less than 1.5 Ω under typical operating conditions.

The RF Multiplexer is designed to be used from 300 kHz to 100 MHz at 50 Ohm characteristic impedance. In a typical 3:1 configuration, the insertion loss is less than 0.6 dB at frequencies less than 100 MHz. A 3:1 configuration provides a low insertion loss of less than 3 dB up to 500 MHz. The module sustains a VSWR below 1.7 in a 3:1 configuration at frequencies up to 500 MHz. The multiplexer is designed to maintain strong and consistent channel to channel crosstalk isolation throughout its operating bandwidth. Below 10 MHz, the channel to channel crosstalk isolation on the model is rated at better than − 80 dB. At frequencies up to 100 MHz, the channel to channel crosstalk isolation remains at better than − 60 dB. The terminated channel to common crosstalk falls below − 50 dB at 200 MHz and below − 40 dB at 500 MHz.

The E1470A utilizes non latching armature relays that default to an all open state at power up and power down. The minimum relay life on the model is specified at 5×10? switching operations under no load conditions. The Keysight/Agilent Multiplexer dissipates 17.50 watts per slot and requires a cooling airflow of 1.30 liters per second.
