Keysight/Agilent E1489C MXI Interface for HP S/700
The Keysight/Agilent E1489C is an EISA/ISA to MXIbus Interface built for HP Series 700 computers with EISA backplanes. It connects Series 700 host systems directly to the MXIbus enabling full VXI instrument control. It installs directly into the EISA/ISA backplane of the host controller. This design gives the controller direct memory mapped access to the VXI backplane for efficient communication. The interface is fully compatible with both SICL and VISA I/O libraries for complete instrument control. The HP Series 700 computers can communicate directly with VXI instrumentation through this interface card. The programming support is provided for C/C++ and HP VEE languages for industrial test application development. The interface operates on HP-UX versions 9.x, 10.01 and 10.20 for broad OS compatibility.
The MXI Interface delivers a maximum 16 bit I/O transfer speed of 2.0 MB/s over the EISA backplane. When used alongside the E1482B VXIbus Extender, the 32 bit transfer rate increases to 4.0 MB/s. This level of throughput is sufficient for demanding data acquisition and instrument control in industrial environments. The EISA backplane ensures stable high speed data movement between the Series 700 host and the connected VXI mainframe. The interface supports register based communication as well as message based and shared memory communication modes. The transparent communication to one or more VXI cardcages is achieved through the E1482B VXIbus Extender. This multiple mainframe communication support allows scalable configurations across large industrial test and measurement setups. Each communication mode provides dependable data exchange between the Series 700 controller and the target VXI instruments.
The E1489C MXI Interface includes either 1 MB or 4 MB of onboard high speed dual ported memory. The host controller can access this memory within the A24 address space for rapid local data retrieval. Any VME or VXI card with direct backplane access can use this memory for temporary data storage. One SIMM connector supports either a 1 MB or 4 MB 80 ns no parity PC compatible module.
